GUILTY: Georgia Mother Kills and Burns Renowned Attorney Husband in Firepit, Blames Son

Georgia murderer Melody Farris has been convicted on all charges for the murder of her husband, prominent attorney Gary Farris, and for burning his body at their Cherokee County property.

A jury found Farris guilty Monday of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, concealing a death, and making a false statement. Following the initial verdict announcement, Superior Court Judge David L. Cannon Jr. confirmed the jurors’ decisions, Court TV reports.

Prosecutors contended that Farris had both the motive and opportunity to kill her husband, while the defense argued that numerous unanswered questions prevent a conviction.

Her attorneys attempted to attribute the crime to Scott Farris, her son, who discovered his father’s burned bod inside a burn pit on the property in July 2018.

“The body was severely burned, and when someone burns a body, it’s going to remove evidence that might have been in the body, and so it does pose challenges, and there are other evidence that needs to be collected,” Cherokee County Sheriff’s Capt. Jay Baker said in 2018, as CrimeOnline previously reported,

”I will say that a .38-caliber bullet was removed from the remains, that’s one of the ways we knew he had been “

Scott Farris testified that his mother only showed emotion once the investigators told them the remains were human.

Sentencing is scheduled for December, Check back for December:
