An Ohio man faces myriad criminal charges after allegedly shooting a patron at a bar – and then bragging about the incident while in jail.

Jacob Brady, 27, was indicted on Thursday by the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas, according to a copy of the charging instrument obtained by Law&Crime.

The alleged shooter now stands accused of two counts of felonious assault, one count of tampering with evidence and one count of illegal possession of a firearm in a liquor permit premises, and two probation violations, jail records show. Each of the felonious assault counts carries a firearm specification that could mean significantly more prison time if he is convicted as presently charged.

Last month, the defendant was arrested on one count each of felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon, as well as the probation violations, after a shooting at Pat’s Bar on Linden Avenue in Dayton, Law&Crime previously reported.

During the early morning hours of June 22, the Dayton Police Department responded to calls of shots fired at the popular, dimly-lit pool hall located in the Linden Heights neighborhood. Responding officers met with witnesses who told them someone had been shot, and a bartender provided video evidence, law enforcement said.

During the incident, Brady allegedly shot a 23-year-old man, whose name is not being shared, because the alleged victim was dating a woman who Brady had wanted to date. The woman, however, wanted nothing to do with Brady, witnesses allegedly told police.

“It appeared that Jacob Brady shot (the man) due to a female that had dated (the man) and did not want to be romantically involved with Mr. Brady,” a detective wrote in an affidavit.

After being shot, the alleged victim took a ride-share to a nearby hospital, where he was said to be in critical condition, according to Dayton-based NBC affiliate WDTN.

Brady allegedly confessed to shooting the man, claiming he did so because the man was making threats, police say. Witnesses disputed that excuse, telling police they did not hear any threats being made by the alleged victim. The security video provided by the bartender showed Brady allegedly firing two rounds at the other man, according to court documents filed in the case. Bullet casings were also found at the bar in the location where the shooting occurred.

Later, once arrested and booked in the Montgomery County Jail, the defendant made additional incriminating statements, police say.

Brady was allegedly “laughing” about the incident. Other inmates allegedly heard him musing about creating attire to commemorate the violence: “I’m gonna put that on a t-shirt — ‘BLAM, that boy down.'”
