The parents of a 14-year-old boy who was violently attacked whilst walking home from school have spoken out about their son’s ‘life-changing’ injuries.

Five days on from the horrific altercation, Benjamin is still bleeding from the ear and nose.

He is suffering a facial fracture above the eye and continues to be in an induced coma, Channel Seven crime reporter Cassie Zervos told 3AW’s Neil Mitchell on Friday.

‘But [the boy’s mother] revealed to us yesterday he’s now likely to suffer permanent brain injuries from the alleged assault,’ she added.

His parents have been at his bedside every day this week.

‘After he was attacked he was thrown from the moving car, and the car has then rolled over him,’ the reporter continued.

‘He’s a really tiny little boy who loves his school, loves his sport and he was just simply walking home with his friends.’

Zervos said Benjamin’s parents feel guilty as the incident happened while they were at work, and are now looking to change their routines as they don’t feel safe sending their other primary-aged children to school.

‘I just want him to wake up,’ the boy’s father said.

‘(We’re) really upset, can’t sleep, we are awake all night.’

The Year 9 student’s mother told 7NEWS she doesn’t want what happened to her son to happen to anyone else.

‘It (was) very terrible to hear that news,’ she said.

‘(I’ve had) no sleep, I just want him to wake up.’

Police have confirmed it was a random attack.

Benjamin was confronted by a group of offenders as he left Glen Eira College in Glen Huntly on Monday afternoon.

He was forced into a car and seriously injured after coming out of the vehicle while it was moving.

On Friday, a Frankston boy, also 14, was charged with a string of offences including armed robbery, conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury and theft.

He was set to appear at a children’s court later in the day.

On Thursday, Inspector Scott Dwyer said investigators had identified all those alleged to be involved and warned their arrests were ‘imminent’.

Detectives are probing whether it is linked to other recent violent incidents in the area.

About 10 minutes prior, two people armed with machetes robbed four teenagers in the same suburb but police are yet to confirm whether the two incidents are linked.

Extra patrols have been rolled out in the Glen Eira and Bayside areas near where the attacks happened as a precaution.

Insp Dwyer urged the public not to be alarmed as officers hoped to deter crime.
