Families Await Word From Autopsies on Mysterious Deaths of 3 Men After Chiefs’ Game

The longtime girlfriend of one of the three men found dead outside a Kansas City home earlier this month is speaking out, telling NewsNation she believes he was murdered.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, 37-year-old David Harrington, 38-year-old Ricky Johnson and 36-year-old Clayton McGeeney were found dead in the backyard at the rental home of their friend, Jordan Willis. They had watched the Chiefs’ game together two days earlier along with a fifth person, who left the party.

Authorities have said it does not appear foul play is involved and the deaths are not being investigated as homicides.

But Lorie Kruse, Harrington’s boyfriend of 17 years, said she believes the three men were killed by someone else

“David was murdered,” Kruse told NewsNation. “Those three guys were murdered.”

Kruse did not elaborate on the factual basis for her claim that Harrington was murdered, except to say that he may have been “caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.” She said she does not know “what’s going to come up” as the investigation unfolds and denied speculation that Harrington was a drug addict.

In her interview with NewsNation, Kruse said of Harrington: “He was a good guy. Very good guy. He went to church with us. He coached my son’s baseball team.”

Willis, through lawyer John Picerno, has said he was sleeping on a couch next to a loud fan and wearing noise-canceling headphones for two days. He alleges that he did not know the men had died until officers arrived to conduct a welfare check after McGeeney’s fiancé broke through the property and called police upon finding a body.

On Saturday, Fox News reported that Willis has been “devastated” by the deaths and is “very depressed.”

“Not only is the whole country accusing him of murdering his friends without factual details, evidence or any charges at this time, but he also lost three close friends,” an unnamed source close to Willis told Fox.

Toxicology reports are pending.
