Georgia Police Chief Arrested for Alleged Sexual Crimes Against a Minor

A Georgia police chief has been arrested for alleged sex crimes against a minor.

On Thursday, Police Chief Ashley Wilson, 40, of the Nicholls Police Department, was arrested by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Wilson allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to a 15-year-old girl from Norcross. The teen’s mother discovered the text messages and reported them to an officer at the Nicholls Police Department, according to GBI’s press release.

The text messages Wilson allegedly sent requested a sexual relationship with the young girl. During the investigation, it was found that many of the messages were sent while Wilson was on duty.

According to WRDW, the mother reported the incident on Wednesday, and by Thursday, Wilson was taken into custody at Coffee County Jail. He is facing charges of three counts of enticing a child, one count of violation of oath of office, and one count of conspiracy to commit child molestation.

The GBI is actively investigating and encourages anyone with information to contact the GBI Regional Investigative Office in Douglas at (912) 389-4103 or the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office at (912) 384-4227. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by calling 1-800-597-TIPS (8477).
