On Thursday, a Georgia judge said Donald Trump’s election interference trial will be televised in real-time.
Judge Scott McAfee said that the trials for Trump and his 18 co-defendants will be live-streamed on the Fulton County court’s YouTube channel. McAfee also said members of the media will be allowed to use cellphones and computers in court for non-recording purposes, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Reports indicated that McAfee’s order may be rendered null if the defendants have their case moved to federal court, as ex-White House chief of staff Mark Meadows is trying to do. Typically, cameras are not allowed in federal court.
Along with Trump, former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani and 17 defendants were charged with racketeering for conspiring to change the 2020 election results. Giuliani was Trump’s personal lawyer at the time.
Trump turned himself into Fulton County jail late last month. He is currently free on $200,000 bond.
