An employee at a Washington state Fred Meyer superstore was arrested this week after he attacked a co-worker with a handsaw and swung an crowbar around, prompting the store’s evacuation.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office said that it and the Spokane Police Department responded to the call Thursday afternoon and arrested Daniel Silva, 35, charging him with two counts off 2nd degree assault and malicious michief.
They found him in a store aisle, “spitting on the floor and yelling he was a demon.” Medics treated him on the scene and took him to a hospital for further evaluation.
The employee who was injured, a woman was also treated on the scene and then taken to a hospital for “a substantial but non-lifethreatening cut” with the handsaw.
Deputies said he tried to hit another employee with the saw but failed, and also swung a crowbar, damaging an estimated $2,000 in store merchandise. Deputies found a box cutter on him when he was taken into custody.

The store was closed for the investigation and cleanup after the incident.
