Fox commentators tore into US Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez for her criticisms of New York City‘s decision to deploy more cops into the subway to crack down on rampant crime.
Jeanine Pirro and Greg Gutfeld, co-hosts of The Five, called the Democratic congresswoman a ‘frickin’ moron,’ following her comments before Election Night claiming that a larger police presence in the subways would only cause crime to rise.
The liberal was taking aim at New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Gov. Kathy Hochul for bolstering the NYPD’s ranks in the city’s transit system.
‘She is so stupid, it is stunning,’ Pirro said on Thursday. ‘More cops cause more violence on the trains, on the subways? Did it ever occur to her there might even be more crime but for the fact that there were more police there?’
Gutfeld added: ‘That is either the product of a dishonest mind or a mentally disabled one… Do you think that the chalk outlines are drawn before the body’s placed in there, you frickin’ moron?!’

Cortez drew backlash for her comments on the radio show The Breakfast Club on Tuesday when discussing crime in the city, which is up nearly 30 percent from last year.
‘A lot of people think that crime is up, when we actually see that shootings are down, when we see that huge indicators on the most violent crime in New York City is down.’
The liberal then criticized Adams and Hochul for putting more police officers on subway platforms, claiming they were responsible for crime on the MTA rising.
She said: ‘Subway crime is up, but let’s also note that subway crime is up after they committed so many more officers to the subway system.
‘So that also tells us from a policy perspective, adding more cops to the subway isn’t solving this problem.’
Pirro said Crotez’s reasoning was ‘screwed up,’ and lamented that the congresswoman was able to easily win her re-election bid on Tuesday as the Fox host labeled the members of The Squad ‘pro-criminal.’
‘They don’t know what they’re talking about and Americans are suffering for that,’ Pirro said.

Overall crime in the Big Apple is up 29.1 percent from last year

Violent crimes in the city are up 29.1 percent from the same time last year, with robberies up a soaring 31.5 percent.
Felonly assaults are also up nearly 14 percent, with police recording 22,319 cases so far this year, and rapes have increased by nearly 11 percent.
Murders and the number of shooting victims were down 14.4 and 13.6 percent respectively.

The city’s transit system appears to be bearing the brunt in surging crime, with about 1,865 reports so far in 2022, a 41.7 percent spike from last year.
Adams has repeatedly claimed there is only a ‘perception’ that crime is out of control on the subways – even as he and Gov. Hochul have spent millions of taxpayer dollars to better police and monitor the system.
Under pressure to crackdown on crime in the subways, Adams said he would bolster the transit system with more police and extra security measures.
The new initiative, Adams said, will add 1,200 more shifts, or 10,000 more hours per day, to enhance security in the system.
The plan came in addition to Adam’s initial Subway Safety Plan, a $97billion undertaking that has since swelled to a $100billion project after being implemented by the then-new mayor in February.

20 precincts will get extra cops to deal with rising crime, which is up citywide by 30% this year

The NYPD’s Strategic Response Group is an elite unit deployed to violent crime and protests
The plan saw 1,000 additional officers deployed in the subway to stop the already prevailing violence, as well as teams of health workers into the city’s intricate subterranean network to crack down on crime.
Adams also laid out plans to deploy the NYPD’s Strategic Response Group to 20 precincts to deal with soaring crime.
They include eight precincts in the Bronx, six in Manhattan, three in Brooklyn and three in Queens, the New York Post reported.
The NYPD’s Strategic Response Group is an elite unit which is deployed to areas facing surging crime.
The unit, which is made up of ‘highly trained personnel and specialized equipment’, is also skilled in crowd control and can be deployed for major events, including parades and protests.
It also deals with ‘shootings, bank robberies, missing persons, demonstrations, or other significant incidents,’ the NYPD says.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams (left) appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Thursday to slam the laxed bail reform laws that are putting repeat offenders back on the street. He called on Hochul (right) to ditch the laws
Along with bolstering the streets with more cops, Adams called on newly-elected Gov. Hochul to ditch the ‘catch, release, repeat’ bail reforms that are fueling the city’s crime epidemic.
The bail reforms implemented in 2019 do away with cash bonds in most instances, a progressive idea that has meant many criminals are released back onto the streets within hours of being picked up.
Adams, a former cop, appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Thursday to make an appeal to her to get tougher.
‘This catch, repeat, release system is just destroying the foundation of our country,’ he said.
‘Six out of 10 New Yorkers in the Hispanic and Asian community voted Democrat compared to seven to eight out of 10 last time. We are losing the base black and brown who really believe in those basic things. Public safety, housing, education.
‘We cannot talk our way out of this. We have to be real what people are facing on the street,’ Adams added.
