Former Tennessee School Principal, Charged With Child Sex Crimes, on the Run

A former Tennessee elementary school principal and first grade teacher — indicted on multiple charges, including child rape and incest — is on the run after removing his GPS tracking monitor and fleeing his home.

The District Attorney’s Office of Tennessee’s 22nd Judicial District said a warrant had been issued for the arrest of Jonathan Ullrich for violating the conditions of his bond, WSMV reported.

He was indicted on 21 charges last December and released on a $350,000 bond, according to WTVF.

The district attorney’s office said Ullrich may be armed and dangerous and has made statements indicating he could be violent and suicidal. Earlier this year, Ullrich allegedly barricaded himself inside his home for hours when police tried to serve an order of protection related to the charges against him. He also tried unsuccessfully to buy a gun after the order was finally served.

Clay County sheriff’s deputies conducted a wellness check at Ullrich’s home on Thursday but found him not at home. Instead, they found his GPS monitor and note that said, in part, “I can’t do this anymore.”

The DA’s office said there were other letters found that indicated Ullrich could be in the Dale Hollow Lake area or in Kentucky near the Clay County, Tennessee, line.

Ulrich was the principal of Longview Elementary School in Spring Hill when he was arrested. December’s indictment charged him with rape of a child, aggravated sexual battery, rape, incest, especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, and other charges, 21 in all.
