Florida Murder Suspect Dies in Car Crash While Fleeing Police

A Florida man died in a car crash early Friday while fleeing police after allegedly stabbing his estranged girlfriend “up to 70 times.”

Deputies responded to a home in Chuluota at about 12:45 a.m. and found Kristin Stevens, 40, dead from multiple stab wounds, WFLA reported. Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said she was stabbed “up to 70 times.”

A man who had been inside the home at the time told police that James Christopher Lindsey, 42, smashed glass with a hammer and broke into the home. The witness said he awoke to see Lindsey on top of Stevens, apparently stabbing her with a knife.

The man said he tried to get Lindsey off and was stabbed in the leg. He fled to a neighbor’s and called 911.

A 16-year-old boy was also in the home at the time but was not physically injured.

Lindsey fled the scene before deputies arrive. He was found dead at about 5 a.m. after the crash in Orange County. Investigators said he lost control while topping 100 mph speeds and was ejected from the vehicle.

Lindsey and Stevens had reportedly been in a lengthy relationship, since at least 2014, with a history of domestic violence incidents. Lindsey was charged with domestic violence battery in early November. He had been due in court on the charges later on Friday, WKMG reported.
