Florida Man Threatens Ex-Wife With Drill, Gun, & Tells Her He’d Kill Her ‘If I Could Get Away With It’

A Florida man was charged with attempted murder Friday night after he fired a shot at his ex-wife and reportedly told her he’d “kill you if I could get away with it.”

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office says it was called to the scene in Spring Hill at about 9:15 p.m. and met with the victim, who said he was involved in a “verbal argument” with her ex-husband, whom she still lives with with their two children.

The children were not home at the time of the incident.

The victim said the argument started “over a call she received from her new boyfriend.” Her ex-husband, Jerimiah Andrew Carr, grabbed a power drill and threatened her with it, prompting her to grab a knife.

“In response, Carr went into the home where he retrieved a firearm,” the sheriff’s office said. “He then returned to the garage where he displayed a firearm that he had tucked in his waistband while telling the victim, ‘I’d kill you if I could get away with it.’”

Moments later, police said, Carr pointed the gun at his ex-wife and fired a shot that missed. She fled the home and called 911.

Deputies noted that Carr “appeared intoxicated” when they arrived and refused to speak with them at the scene.

Citing “the investigation and evidence gathered at the scene,” he was arrested on the attempted murder charge and is being held without bond “due to the domestic nature of the charge.”
