Florida Man Calls Housekeeper to Clean Up ‘Real Mess’ After Killing Grandmother With a Hammer

Florida sheriff’s deputies arrested a blood-soaked man Wednesday after he allegedly beat his grandmother to death with a hammer and severely injured his grandfather.

Anthony Michael Corrado, 34, was charged with second degree murder and aggravated battery on a person over age 65, according to the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said only that the elder victims “knew on another” and that the woman “had an active order for protection against Corrado, who was released from prison last year.” The Naples Daily News identified the victims as Corrado’s 82-year-old grandmother and his grandfather, who is in his 70s.

Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said police arrived on the scene when they were alerted by a housekeeper Corrado called to clean up after the murder. “A blood-stained Corrado” took the housekeeper to a bedroom, where the dead woman’s body was located, the sheriff’s office said. The housekeeper excused herself to get cleaning supplies from her car, but instead drove away and flagged down a deputy in his patrol car not far away.

“This individual is in our custody thanks to the swift response by deputies and the quick-thinking reporter who was able to get herself out of the residence and alert law enforcement,” Rambosk said.

Deputies found the dead woman upon arrival and found the man with severe head injuries in a different room, wrapped in a blanket. He was flown to a trauma center for treatment.

Investigators found a hammer with blood on it on a kitchen counter and blood on the walls and floors inside. They found Corrado standing outside.

According to the Daily News, Corrado’s arrest affidavit said he told the housekeeper there was a “real mess” to clean up.
