A major police investigation has been launched after the body of a woman was found at an inner-city unit.

Police made the grim discovery after they were called to a home on St Margarets Crescent in Felixstow, Adelaide, at 1.30pm on Wednesday.

Major crime detectives were seen scouring two units in the cul de sac.

They were back at the scene on Thursday morning, with a police spokesperson saying it was not yet known what was the cause of the woman’s death.

Local resident Sue Edwards believes the woman was an older lady, possibly in her 80s, who had been living in the residence for about a year.

‘People come and go all the time,’ Ms Edwards told the Adelaide Advertiser.

‘There’s usually lots of children from the house running around. There’s also usually a lot of yelling.’

She said there were no noticeable disturbances over recent weeks before the woman’s body was found, adding that it had been quiet ‘for a while’.

‘I haven’t seen her for ages, it’s been very quiet for a while,’ she said.

A report will be drafted for the coroner.
