Texas detectives said on Wednesday that they believe ex-NFL player Kevin Ware beat, strangled, and stabbed his girlfriend last year before burning her remains and burying them.

Investigators believe Kevin Ware, 40, used a fourth, unknown method to kill Taylor Pomaski, 29, in April 2021. The Houston Chronicle reported that Pomaski’s skeletal remains were discovered in a ditch in Harris County in December, and it took months to identify her body.

Despite investigators’ claims, Pomaski’s official cause and manner of death remain undetermined.

On April 25, 2021, Pomaski reportedly disappeared from a party at a Harris County residence she shares with Ware. On June 11, U.S. Marshals arrested Ware for failing to report for bond supervision regarding previous gun and drug charges in an unrelated case in Montgomery County.

Ware was formerly a tight end for the San Francisco 49ers. He is charged with murder and tampering with a corpse in connection with Pomaski’s death.

Prosecutors have asked for Ware to remain jailed on a $1 million bond. He is due in court next week.
