Ex-Deputy Sentenced for Killing Fellow Deputy Wife

A former Oklahoma deputy sheriff was sentenced to life without parole in the shooting death of his wife, who as also a deputy in the same department.

Vaughn Cannon and Jordan Pile both worked for the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office at the time of the shooting in August 2023, KOKO reported.

Pyle’s 17-year-old son was at the Oklahoma City home when the shooting took place. He heard the gunshots and called 911.

The boy said he went to bed at around midnight on August 29 and didn’t think Cannon and Pyle were home, according to KOKH. He said woke up to about five gunshots and Cannon screaming. He ran outside and called 911, while Cannon remained inside.

Police found Pyle inside, dead from multiple gunshots. Cannon told them he couldn’t remember the entire incident but that he remembered the gunshots and called his uncle, who told him to surrender to police. He also reportedly told his uncle he “f***** up.”

Cannon was charged with murder and initially pleaded not guilty, but in September he changed his plea to guilty, KOKO reported.

Pyle’s father, Rusty Pyle, told he station he hoped the sentencing will begin a healing journey for the family.

“He took our baby away from us, and she had a long career ahead of her,” he said. “She was going places, and now that’s over.”

Cannon was fired from his job shortly after his arrest, KWTV said.
