Ex-Cop Charged With Kidnapping 12-Year-Old Girl

A former Texas cop has been charged with kidnapping a 12-year-old girl in Vidor and taking her across state lines into Louisiana.

Ethan Majors, 23, previously worked at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Vidor Independent School District Police Department, and the Pinehurst Police Department, KBMT reported.

Majors allegedly picked up the girl from her home in Vidor early Sunday morning, drove her to his home in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and brought her back home later that morning.

According to KBMT, Majors was a school resource officer at Oak Forest Elementary Shcool from January to May this year, Vidor ISD said. He left to work at another department but returned on June 14 and remained with the district until resigning in October. The station said he worked at Pinehurst between the two school stint, but it’s not clear why he left.

Video Police Chief Rod Carroll said Majors was fired from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, but it’s not clear why or when he worked there, although the school district hired him almost immediately after he completed police training, so it’s possible he was working there at the time of his arrest.

Majors is charged with aggravated kidnapping, and more charges are possible, including state and federal charges. He was arrested in Tuesday, KFDM reported.

Carroll said the Vidor Police Department is working with Lake Charles police on the investigation and the the school district is cooperating.

Majors is being held on a $250,000 bond, KBMT said.
