A Pennsylvania man has been charged with shooting his ex-girlfriend in the head at a Port Allegany motel.
Port Allegany Police were looking for a woman after she was reported missing by her family and received a tip that her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Brian Kuchinka, had been at the Mid-Town Motel since the break-up earlier this month. the Daily Voice reported.
As officers approached Kuchinka’s room, they heard a gunshot and smelled residue. After setting up a perimeter, Pennsylvania State Police got Kuchinka on the phone.
He left the room after a brief standoff. Police found a gun on him, and he was suffering from an apparently self-inflicted head wound. Inside the room, they found the ex-girlfriend dead.
Police said surveillance footage showed Kuchinka carrying what appeared to be the woman’s body from an SUV into the room. Kuchinka was taken to an unnamed out of state hospital for treatment.
He has been charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and recklessly endangering another person.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
While police have not said where they believe the murder took place, they have asked anyone who may have witnessed a disturbance at Costa’s Supermarket in Smethport between 9 and 10 p.m. on Friday to contact them at 814-368-9230.
