Young Indigenous Girl Emily Pike Found Murdered, Dismembered with Severed Head in Bag: Family and Community Demand Justice

The Mesa Police Department has released the missing person report for a girl who was later found dismembered.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Arizona authorities announced on February 27 that dismembered human remains found in trash bags off U.S. Highway 60 in Globe earlier that month belong to Emily Pike. Pike disappeared from a Mesa group home on January 27.

ABC 15 reported on the missing person report they received, which provides a timeline of the ongoing case.

– January 27: After 8 p.m., police received a missing person call for Pike from the group home manager.

– January 28: Police learned that Pike was on medications for behavioral issues and mental health, according to an employee of the group home. Pike’s case manager with the San Carlos Apache Tribe’s contact information was also provided to police at that time.

– January 29: At 3:35 p.m., a statewide missing persons bulletin was released.

– February 11: Police were notified by a group home employee that a voicemail received on February 2—though not available until February 7—was from an unknown caller. The voicemail claimed that Emily was on San Carlos Apache Tribal Land with her mother.

Later that day, Pike’s case manager questioned Pike’s mother about the message. The mother stated that Pike was not there and that it was an “old post.”

– February 14: CrimeOnline reported that remains were found in bags off Highway 60 in Globe.

– February 19: The Mesa Police Department was contacted by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, which believed that a Jane Doe they found might be Pike.

– February 27: A month after Pike was reported missing, authorities announced that the dismembered remains found were indeed Pike’s.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, during a vigil on March 15, the San Carlos Apache Tribe announced a reward to honor Pike. The tribe is offering a $75,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case, according to 12 News.
