An Indiana man was arrested on Monday for killing two people who police confirmed were informants.
On Friday, volunteers cleaning St. Mary’s River in Fort Wayne discovered the bodies of Christina Dixon, 40, and Matthew Johnson, 41, in trash bags. Richmond police said Dixon and Johnson were confidential informants who provided information that led them to raid a partner of Dominique Washington’s — a known drug dealer who was charged with killing the pair, according to WTTK.
The drug bust occurred a week before Dixon and Johnson’s murders. The Allen County Coroner determined Dixon was strangled and suffocated, while Johnson was shot and stabbed.
The victims’ phones last pinged on September 19, with Johnson’s last known location at the Genesis Apartments in Richmond. Surveillance footage showed him driving to the area on a motorcycle, a day before someone in a white car was spotted driving up and leaving on his bike.
According to WANE, investigators believe Washington lured Dixon and Johnson to a car and forced them to turn off their phones. He allegedly switched vehicles — killing the victims at some point — before dumping their bodies in the river.
According to WTTK, a witness told police that Washington made them pick up Johnson’s motorcycle from the apartment complex.
Washington is charged with felony murder, kidnapping, and failure to report the discovery of a body. He remains jailed without bond.
