An Albanian suspected criminal tried to leap across a roof while wearing slippers in an attempt to escape police who were raiding a residential cannabis farm.

The 19-year-old man clambered out a first floor window to avoid West Mercia Police who were acting on a tip off. The man jumped across a gap to avoid arrest but was soon detained in a nearby garden.

Officers recovered 60 large plants in the house in Cofton Hackett, Worcestershire which were worth an estimated £50,000.

A further 198 smaller plants were also recovered, which could have been worth £1,000 each later this year.

Officers seized cannabis plants along with cultivation equipment and a sophisticated electrical system.

The raid took place after neighbours raised concerns about drugs and suspicious activity in the area.

A 19-year-old Albanian man was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis.

PC Rod Hartwright, of West Mercia Police, said: ‘The warrant shows we will not tolerate drugs within our community and will continue to act on information given to us about drugs.

‘Drugs have a negative impact on our communities and can lead to other localised criminality and the harm and exploitation of vulnerable people.’
