A 30-year-old mother in Tennessee has been arrested after she allegedly went to the home of her child”s father and shot him while their son was in the room watching.

Keosha Vester was taken into custody last week and charged with one count each of aggravated assault with domestic violence, reckless endangerment, and violation of bond conditions, court documents reviewed by Law&Crime show.

Vester was on parole at the time of the attack for attacking the same man in February 2025, which their son also apparently witnessed.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers with the Memphis Police Department on July 12 responded to a call about a possible domestic violence assault in the 1100 block of Marechalneil Street. Upon arriving at the address, first responders made contact with a witness who said that shortly before they arrived, he had answered the front door and let an adult Black female into the home, showing her to the room of the victim.

It allegedly did not take long for the woman — identified by authorities as Vester — to become violent.

“[The witness] advised that shortly afterward, he heard at least three shots fired inside the room and call[ed] police,” the affidavit states. “Officers located [the victim] inside the room with a gunshot wound who advised his baby mama (Keosha Vester) shot him.”

The victim was rushed to Regional One Hospital in critical condition. Police also noted that they located a juvenile in the room who they said was “inside the room when the assault occurred.”

Officers in the area located a woman matching the witness’ description walking a few blocks from the scene of the shooting, identifying her as Vester. She was taken into custody. Police said she was in possession of a gray Taurus T22 handgun as well as a knife and also had a “large brick inside of her purse.”

In an interview with police, Vester allegedly said that she and the victim had “an altercation.”

“She advised following the altercation she did what she did, ‘Pulled the Trigger’ to a Taurus handgun,” the affidavit states.

Vester was processed into the Shelby County Jail, where she remained in detention in lieu of $100,000 bond as of Thursday morning, records show. She is currently scheduled to appear in court again on July 28.

Vester in February was arrested for domestic assault on the same victim, also in front of their child. In that case, authorities said that the victim was returning his son home when Vester suddenly “became upset” and “attacked him.”

“Vestor can be seen on video irate, approaching [the victim] and making threats,” an affidavit from that case says. “[The victim] was struck as he fled to avoid Vestor’s attack.”
