When 37-year-old Tiffany April Leigh Braddock was found wandering along a highway on Wednesday, it was two days after she stabbed her elderly mother, Elizabeth Braddock, to death and left her body on a recliner at home, say deputies in Bay County, Florida.
“The defendant stated she did not have remorse and was laughing while describing how she murdered the victim,” authorities wrote.
According to a sheriff’s office Facebook post and probable cause affidavit viewed by Law&Crime, Tiffany Braddock was walking along Highway 231 on Wednesday. She was allegedly “speaking to herself and swinging her arms around.”
“Deputy Jackson asked the defendant how she was doing which she responded to by stating she wasn’t doing good due to the fact she did a bad thing,” authorities wrote. That bad thing, Braddock allegedly said, was murder.
According to the sheriff’s office, she gave her home address. Another deputy arrived to perform a welfare check on the mother, 73-year-old Elizabeth Braddock.
“Deputy Foster observed the front door to be cracked open with the victim sitting in a recliner deceased with multiple stab wounds,” the affidavit said.
Post-Miranda, defendant Braddock allegedly said that she stabbed her mother with a hunting knife on Monday.
“The defendant then stated she did not believe the victim to be deceased so she stabbed the victim several more times,” they wrote.
She allegedly said the knife was at home on a folding table in her bedroom. Deputies claim they found it when executing a search warrant.
“The defendant stated she murdered her mother due to the fact the mother was abusive towards her,” deputies wrote. “The defendant stated the victim was abusive due to the victim using curses on her, but did not define any form of physical violence.”
Braddock allegedly said she could not stand living with her mother anymore and had been planning to kill her for two years, adding that it was “premeditated.”
Records show Braddock is currently in jail. She had her first appearance on Thursday and her arraignment is scheduled for Sept. 12.
