The mother of a missing Alabama boy who is now presumed dead was arrested on Sunday in the death of her 2-year-old daughter, who died this month in a car crash that also killed her children’s father.
Wendy Bailey, 22, was charged with abuse of a corpse, first-degree domestic violence, aggravated child abuse, and criminally negligent homicide. The corpse charges pertain to Bailey’s missing son, Kahleb Collins, 1, who Fayette County authorities believe has been dead for several months, according to WBMA.
Bailey is charged with homicide in connection with her daughter, who was reportedly unrestrained at the time of the December 8 crash that killed her and the girl’s father. The father was allegedly driving at 92 mph when he veered off the road and struck a tree — causing him to be ejected from the vehicle. Bailey was also unbuckled and was partially ejected from the car.

Collins was reported missing on December 9, a day after the deadly wreck. At that time, it was uncovered that Collins vanished on September 4.
Days after the deadly wreck, Collins’ grandfather, John Bailey, 50, was arrested for failing to report Kahleb Collins’ disappearance. Authorities believe Collins was somehow injured and moved from his family home.
Though presumed missing, Collins has not been found. Investigators were seen searching the family’s property with shovels.
Wendy Bailey is awaiting a bond hearing. John Bailey remains jailed on $100,000 bail.
