Kaiden Kriger

Police in Texas have confirmed the discovery of the bodies of a San Antonio woman and her son, who was reported missing Monday.

According to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, Savannah Kriger and her 3-year-old son Kaiden were found deceased Tuesday at Tom Slick Park in San Antonio. Police found her SUV, a white 2023 Lincoln Aviator, abandoned at the park. Their bodies were found in a nearby ditch.

A firearm found at the scene is believed to have been used in their deaths.

The sequence of events, according to Salazar, began with a welfare check at Kriger’s home on Monday, but no one was home. Concerns arose when family members said they couldn’t reach Kriger after she left work early to pick up Kaiden from daycare for a doctor’s appointment.

She also had her GPS turned off.

“(Kriger’s) phone was going straight to voicemail,” Salazar said. “Her location services were off.”

Upon entering Kriger’s home, deputies said they encountered troubling circumstances that raised fears for the safety of both mother and child.

“I won’t go too much into detail on what was found, but they did find some things that led us to believe there was certainly cause for concern for the child, as well as for Savannah,” Salazar said.

Kriger is currently considered the sole suspect, with deputies exploring whether the custody battle played a role. Kriger was reportedly scheduled for a custody hearing a day after she disappeared.

The child’s father is currently cooperating with police.

“At this point, we are operating on the premise that it is Savannah and the child,” he said. “There’s some evidence that there may have been some gunshots fired.”

The story is developing. Check back for updates.
