Accused Delphi Child Killer’s Defense Plans to Persuade Judge Odinist Cult Committed Murders, Trial Looms

Defense attorneys for accused Delphi killer Richard Allen submitted a new motion Wednesday, for permission to present evidence linking Odinism to the Delphi Murders.

Indy Star reports that the defense lawyers want the jury to consider the information in relation to the killings of Abby Williams and Libby German.

In a court filing, Allen’s defense team argued that testimony from prosecution witnesses during the trial’s first 10 day should allow them to present Norse Paganism, and ritualistic killing.

The filing referenced Lt. Jerry Holeman’s testimony from the Indiana State Police, where he stated that sticks placed on the victims were meant to conceal the bodies.

Under prosecutor questioning, Lt. Holeman noted that the sticks might represent an attempt to “undo” the crime.

Allen’s defense team argued in a court filing that Lt. Holeman’s testimony indicates jurors should hear their theory: the sticks were part of a ritual connected to Odinism/Norse Paganism.

Judge Gull previously denied the defense’s request.

In the same filing, Allen’s attorneys sought to present evidence of third-party suspects.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Libby, 14, and Abby, 13, were walking on the Monon High Bridge in Carroll County when they were murdered and left in the woods on February 13, 2017.

Allen, arrested five years later in 2022, has pleaded not guilty to the murder charges.

The defense filing referenced testimony from a forensic pathologist who informed jurors that the killings may have involved as many as four knives.

Judge Gull hasn’t said when the ruling will be completed.

The trial continues, Check back for updates.
