Dad Guns Down 24-Year-Old Daughter in Argument Over Smoking in the House

An Ohio man has been charged with gunning down his 24-year-old daughter early Monday morning in an apparent argument over smoking in the house he shared with her and her sister.

Police did not say who was doing the smoking, but prosecutors said in court Tuesday that Framklin Thompson, 64, “expressed zero remorse” for the killing of Heather Thompson, WLWT reported.

A police report says that Thompson “admitted to shooting his daughter several times during a verbal interaction.”

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and then screaming about an hour later when Franklin Thompson’s 18-year-old daughter arrived home to find her sister suffering from gunshot wounds, according to WKRC. She called 911 and was given CPR instructions, but the older sister was pronounced dead after she was taken to a hospital.

The father was found a short while later a few houses down the street, WLWT said. He still had the gun used in the shooting on him, and deputies saw what appeared to be blood on his clothing and hands.

The police report said that Thompson had a “recent brain operation causing lasting issues.”

Thompson was ordered held on a $1 million bond, and prosecutors said they would bring the case to a grand jury on February 6.
