Last Thursday, an Idaho judge presiding over Lori Vallow Daybell’s triple murder trial decided that three relatives can provide victim impact statements before July’s sentencing hearing.
KTVB reported that Kay Woodcock, Summer Shiflet, and Colby Ryan are allowed to give their statements while addressing themselves as immediate family members or a representative of a family member of one of the victims.
Kay Woodcock is J.J. Vallow’s grandmother; Shiflet is Lori Vallow Daybell’s sister; and Colby Ryan is Lori Vallow Daybell’s son and Tylee Ryan’s brother.
Additionally, the judge found that Larry Woodcock, as Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow’s ex-uncle-in-law, is not considered an immediate family member. The same ruling was handed down to Brandon Boudreaux, who is the ex-husband of Lori Vallow Daybell’s niece.
In May, Lori Vallow Daybell was indicted in Arizona for conspiring to kill Boudreaux in October 2019, weeks before the death of her current husband’s late wife, Tammy Daybell.
Rex Conner and Vicki Hoben, who also filed victims’ rights forms, were denied because the records do not establish their identities, so their relationship to the victims could not be determined, KTVB reported.
This Thursday, a hearing is scheduled to address Lori Vallow Daybell’s bid for a new trial. Her team has claimed that the jury was influenced by “outside sources” and the instructions they were provided were confusing, according to KIVI.
In May, Lori Vallow Daybell was convicted of killing her two children and Tammy Daybell. Her husband, Chad Daybell, is also facing three murder charges but has not yet stood trial.

Lori Vallow Daybell is also charged in Arizona with conspiring the July 2019 death of her fourth husband Charles Vallow, who was shot by her brother, Alex Cox. Cox, who claimed self-defense, died of reported natural causes in December 2019.
In September 2019, Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow disappeared in Idaho, and Lori Vallow Daybell never reported them missing. The following month, Chad Daybell’s current wife, Tammy Daybell, died of what was originally believed to be natural causes. However, officials later reclassified her death as a homicide.
While the children were still missing, Lori Vallow Daybell and Chad Daybell got married in Hawaii. The children were found buried on Chad Daybell’s property in June 2020, nine months after they vanished.
Lori Vallow Daybell’s sentencing is scheduled for July 31.
