‘Cult Leader’ Who Started Dating Teen at Age 49 Led Cops to Her Buried Body

A woman who vanished in May was reportedly found buried on her husband’s property in Mississippi on Monday.

Lawrence County Sheriff Ryan Everett said Charles Sims led them to La’Datra Williams’ body in a shallow grave. Sims, who was arrested on July 11, told police they would “never” locate Williams’ body before leading them to a wooded area where he had buried it, according to Darkhorse Press.

Williams, 26, who was from Kansas City, Missouri, vanished from Silver Creek, Mississippi, on May 20 while visiting Sims. Williams’ father told the Kansas City Star that Sims was 49 when he started dating Williams, who was 18. Williams and Sims have four children together.

Williams allegedly told her father she was traveling to Mississippi to break up with Sims. Williams’ father requested a welfare check at Sims’ home after she stopped responding to calls and messages.

Williams’ father told the Kansas City Star that he then called Sims — who admitted to assaulting his daughter. However, Sims allegedly claimed he dropped off Williams down the road after the altercation.

Family members told Darkhorse Press that Sims’ living arrangement resembled that of a cult, as Williams and his two other wives traveled between Missouri and Mississippi. Williams’ aunt said she believed Williams was in Mississippi when one of the other women informed Sims that Williams had another love interest.

“Charles believes no matter what the situation is he is the answer. That God ordained him to fix all issues and all women,” the aunt said.

She also alleged that one of Sims’ other wives escaped with her children at some point and Sims made them return. The aunt said she believed Williams was forced to leave her children with one of the women, who Williams did not trust or like.

“I believe that in a fit of jealous rage, he killed my daughter,” Williams’ father told the Kansas City Star.

Williams family alleged Sims has 25 children, including the four he shares with Williams.

A DNA test to confirm whether the body is Williams is pending. It is unclear what criminal charges Sims is facing.
