Russia is suffering a wave of murders from convicts freed to fight in Vladimir Putin’s war who then return home to continue their life of crime.
Other fighters have become twisted by the brutality of the frontline and kill once they get back to their families.
Still more fighters have been detained for sexual violence against children.
Platoon commander Alexander Mameyev, 44, returned home from the war was detained on suspicion of stabbing his wife Ekaterina to death in front of their sons aged seven and eight.
His children had to be hospitalised suffering from shock.

Soldier Sergei Batuyev, 39, a father of three, was detained accused of strangling his friend Denis Shustov, 41, a Chechen war veteran, during a brawl after returning to Udmurtia region from the war.
The crazed fighter planned to feed his remains to pigs, say prosecutors.
Batuyev is currently on trial and faces up to 15 years in jail if convicted.
Wagner private army fighter Ivan Rossomakhin, 28, recruited from jail where he was serving a term for murder, killed his village neighbour Yulia Buiskykh, 85, after being pardoned by Putin on completion of six months at the front.
Another Wagner recruit Georgy Siukayev, 33, is suspected of murder of Soslan Valyiev, 38, a former convict, less than one month after he was pardoned by Putin.
Andrei Yakimov, 49, a volunteer fighter, killed his wife Viktoria Yakimova, 47, a secretary, on his trip home from the war.
One more notorious case was that of Alexander Ionkin, 23, a wounded volunteer, who used a flare gun to start an inferno in a nightclub in November.

A 19 year old soldier Vladislav A is accused of raping a girl, 17, on his first leave from the war.
He was detained in Taganrog.
In Orlov region, a man, 36, who fought for Putin in Ukraine faces up to 20 years in jail after being detained for sexually abusing his stepdaughter, ten, on leave from the war.
The woman claimed that he had become aggressive after returning from the fighting.

Soldier Evgenyi K – serving in Ukraine – demanded that his girlfriend Nadezhda, 36, send intimate pictures of her underage daughter.
She sent the pictures of the girl, under 14, and now he and the woman face legal action.
A contract soldier named Grigory K was detained for using a false social media ID to demand nude pictures from three girls aged 13, 14 and 15.
He ‘encouraged them to undertake actions of a sexual nature’ and demanded intimate photos.
A Russian captain Alexei Krylov, 33, shot dead a taxi driver during an argument about the war.
The driver Roman Gocasari, 51, died before paramedics arrived.
In Tula, a fighter returning home on leave, beat up the owner of a pizzeria who did not show ‘respect’ to one of Putin’s soldiers.
