Sajed Ali is a violent sex offender who was released by an Australian court after it ruled his human rights had been violated

A ruthless sex offender is on the run after cutting off his ankle monitor and vanishing when he was released from immigration detention by a controversial court decision.

Rapist Sajed Ali has not been seen since March 5 when he was captured on CCTV at Collingwood train station in Melbourne’s inner city suburbs.

Ali was fitted with the ankle monitoring device as one of more than 200 detainees freed by the 2023 High Court decision that outlawed the use of indefinite detention.

The one-armed, one-eyed, illiterate sex attacker lost his hand and eye in a grenade explosion in Pakistan before coming to Australia in 2019.

The same year he arrived in the country, he was found guilty of repeatedly raping one sex worker and robbing another at knifepoint.

A court heard Ali paid a sex worker $70 before telling her: ‘You need a punch. You’re bad girls, you need a punch.’

The court heard Ali then produced a knife and demanded her handbag.

A week later Ali paid another sex worker $100 before raping her near a sports facility in Albert Park – the location of last weekend’s Australian F1 Grand Prix.

He raped her a second time before threatening to shoot her. Another sex worker later reported him to police before cops pounced.

‘The behaviour of Mr Ali towards them must have been frightening and I have no doubt it left them feeling distressed, anxious and psychologically affected,’ a judgement in his case read.

In 2020, a sentencing hearing was told Australian border authorities were awaiting the case’s result when Ali was likely to be deported or could apply for a bridging visa.

A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed to Daily Mail Australia that the 33 year old is currently in breach of his reporting obligations and has not been located.

Ali is known to frequent the Nunawading, Sunshine, Collingwood, Ringwood, St Kilda and Shepparton areas.

The rapist is described as being ‘like a Hollywood villain’ who hides his prosthetic hand under a glove. He also has a prosthetic glass eye.

Ali is described as about 180cm tall and approximately 80kg, with an olive complexion and dark hair. He does not speak English and is illiterate even in his own language.

Upon arriving in Australia he moved to Footscray, in Melbourne’s west, before working as a fruit picker in Shepparton in the state’s north.

The court heard he abused drugs and alcohol in the regional town and was physically assaulted before winding up homeless on the streets.

Ali’s disappearance has revived community anger over the the High Court which released him among scores of murderers, rapists and hardened criminals.

Documents releaased to the senate revealed that among the 149 initially released, 37 were sex offenders, 72 were convicted of violent offending, kidnapping or armed robbery, and seven were convicted of either murder or attempted murder.

‘He’s a violent registered sex offender and convicted armed robber and the government and courts thought it was a good idea to release him into the community and not deport him,’ one person posted.

‘Surely that’s enough to make baked-on Labor supporters realise this government is useless and doesn’t give a damn about Australian people and then they pay him $2000 a month to stay here.’

‘Well done Albo and your Government. Great place now for our kids to grow up in. So sad this once beautiful safe country is now filled with criminals who have been imported into this country.

‘You should be totally ashamed your yourselves,’ another wrote.

Police have asked anyone who sees Ali to contact triple-0. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
