A sleepover at a neighbor’s apartment in Alabama ended with a rescue and an arrest Sunday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.

Two residents of the The Path of Tuscaloosa apartments called police just before noon and said they allowed their children — a 9-year-old boy and a 10-year-old boy — to stay overnight with a neighbor, AL.com reported.

The neighbor, 23-year-old Dasha Sharnell Bishop, refused to let the boys out of her apartment Sunday morning, police spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor said.

Taylor said Bishop wouldn’t come to the door for the boys’ parents or for police officers who knocked a the door.

Police called in two mental health workers, a Youth Aid investigator, and the Special Response team, while paramedics waited on standby.

The Special Response Team breached the front door just after 3 p.m. and brought the children out safely. The officers found Bishop and the two boys barricaded in a back bedroom.

Bishop was charged with felony interference with custody and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
