Cops Hunt for Convicted Murderer – Out on Parole – Now Charged With Gunning Down Pregnant Wife

A Minnesota man out of prison on parole after a 2008 murder is now wanted for shooting his pregnant wife to death and a carjacking that took place a short time later.

Mychel Allen Stowers has a warrant out for his arrest for second degree murder, second degree murder of an uborn child, two counts of car-jacking, and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon for the October 19 incidents, KSTP reported.

A criminal complant says that officers were called to an apartment just after 9 p.m. that night and found Damara Alexis Stowers, 35, on the floor with gunshot wounds, five shell casings nearby, and the smell of gunshot residue in the air. She was pronounced dead when medics arrived.

Prosecutors said she was Mychel Stowers’ wife, but that they were in the process of divorcing. Stowers had been living at the apartment, but he was being evicted because he wasn’t on the lease.

Elsewhere in the apartment, officers found ultrasound images and a full magazine.

Minutes later, officers responded nearby to a report of a carjacking and found a man on the ground with a gunshot to the leg. His car was stolen, and he was taken to a hospital with a broken femur. Another man was with the victim and said the suspect tried to shoot him as well but missed.

Officers found two shell casings on that scene.

Surveillance video from a nearby church showed the shooting and helped officers identify the suspect.

The charge seat said that Stowers later called the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office and said he wanted to turn himself in for the carjacking shooting, but he has not done so.

Stowers was released from prison on March 28 and was living in a half-way house on a work release program. He had a pass to visit his wife.
