South Australia Police advised that Major Crime detectives were due to fly from Adelaide to Coober Pedy on Wednesday morning

A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing in the famous opal mining town of Coober Pedy in South Australia.

Emergency services were called to Hutchinson St at around 5.45pm on Tuesday  following reports of the stabbing. 

A 46-year-old Indulkana man was found with a stab wound to the chest and taken to hospital where he later died. 

Police arrested a 47-year-old a man from Coober Pedy, who is known to the victim.

They are not seeking any other suspects involved in the stabbing. 

The man was charged with murder and will appear in the Coober Pedy Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
