A man has been charged over the alleged domestic violence murder of a woman in Sydney’s inner west.

Police were called to a unit on Berchert Road, Chiswick, about 9.50pm on Saturday following reports of a domestic incident.

When officers arrived, they found the body of a woman, believed to be aged in her 40s. 

A 40-year-old man, who is known to the woman, was arrested at the scene and taken to Burwood police station, where he was charged with murder and refused bail.

The woman has not been formally identified and a post-mortem will be carried out to determine her cause of death.

Officers set up a crime scene at the residence and detectives have launched an investigation under Strike Force Dargal. 

The 40-year-old man will appear before Burwood Local Court on Monday.
