Carjacking of Woman in Broad Daylight Caught on Video, Comes to Tragic Conclusion

A terrifying abduction caught on camera has come to a tragic conclusion, authorities say.

On Friday, Florida authorities said a burning vehicle found south of Orlando likely contained the remains of 31-year-old Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias, who had been carjacked a day earlier, NBC 6 reports.

The brazen attack occurred in broad daylight at an intersection where other vehicles were turning in Winter Springs.

Video of the encounter shows the driver of a green Acura wearing a mask and holding a large gun walking up to the victim’s green SUV.

The masked gunman then enters the backseat of the SUV and the vehicle soon drives away, followed by the Acura.

“It is incredibly frightening to watch the boldness of this suspect, this perpetrator, getting out of a car, wearing a hood, carrying a weapon in broad daylight, getting in the vehicle,” Lemma said, according to NBC 6.

Just before the kidnapping, Guerrero De Aguasvias had called her husband because the driver of the Acura had rammed her vehicle. Guerrero De Aguasvias’s husband advised her to not to stop, but she did after coming to a stoplight at the intersection.

Less than two hours later, police were notified of a vehicle on fire in rural Osceola County. That’s where authorities found what they believe to be Guerrero De Aguasvias’s SUV.

Investigators found human remains inside the car and believe they belong to the victim, but the body was damaged so badly that an official identification has not been possible so far. Numerous shell casings were found in the vicinity.

Police believe the victim was targeted but they have not identified a motive, The Associated Press reports.

Lemma urged area residents to be cautious and said anyone who sees the perpetrators or the green Acura to call 911.

“Clearly they should be viewed as being armed and dangerous, don’t confront them yourself, contact authorities,” Lemma said, according to NBC 6.
