Federal authorities have arrested a California man accused in the serial killings of Mexican sex workers in Baja California.
Bryant Rivera, 30, was arrested in Downey, California, at the request of Mexican authorities, NBC News reported. Mexican prosecutors are expected to formally request extradition.
A federal complaint outlines Baja California’s case against Bryant in the death of Angela Carolina Acosta Flores on January 24, 2022. Baja California Attorney General Ricardo Ivan Carpio Sanchez said that Bryant has been accused of three murders in Tijuana, which is just across the border from San Diego.
Rivera “is considered a serial killer” and “will now face justice in Baja California,” Carpio said on Facebook, according to an NBC News translation.
The US Attorney’s complaint says that Acosta Flores, a dancer at a club in Tijuana, was last seen entering a hotel room allegedly rented by Rivera. Her body was found in the bathroom the next day, and an autopsy said she had been asphyxiated.
Baja prosecutors say Rivera was also seen leaving the hotel room before midnight that night and never returned. He walked back into the United States 13 minutes later. Witnesses gave detailed descriptions of Rivera, and one even called him by his first and last names.

Details of the other two cases weren’t available, but Mexican authorities said the deaths spanned from September 2021 to February 2022.
“In Baja California,” Carpio said, “no one escapes justice.”
