Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives arrested a pair of brothers who allegedly snatched a woman’s purse and then dragged her for about 50 yards as they drove away through a Costco parking lot.

David, 38, and Andrew, 34, Morrison are facing robbery charges. It happened about 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 26 at a Costco in Industry.

The sheriff’s office said in a press release the victim tried to recover her purse when the brothers grabbed it and was “punched repeatedly in the face while being dragged by the suspect’s getaway vehicle.” Paramedics took the victim, who suffered multiple facial injuries and head trauma, to the hospital. KTLA reported the suspects dragged the woman through the parking lot and onto the street before she fell off.

Investigators identified and arrested the Morrison brothers on Dec. 28 in Diamond Bar, roughly eight miles from Costco. A search of the arrest location uncovered “crucial evidence, including personal property belonging to the victim,” the press release said.

They were taken to the Industry Sheriff’s Station, where they were booked for robbery and held on $500,000 bail. Detectives are still trying to determine if the Morrisons were involved in other robberies. Victims should contact the Major Crimes Bureau at 562-946-7187.

In the days after the incident, Donald Ward, a friend of the victim, told KTLA she is thankful she’s alive. He helped her cancel her stolen credit cards and have her car towed from the Costco parking lot. He said the incident is a good reminder for people to be aware of their surroundings.

“[The victim] was with two other friends, and that still didn’t help, so just be watching, unfortunately, for bad people who want to take advantage of you,” he told the outlet.
