BOLO: Search for Missing Oregon Hiker Nears 5th Day

In Oregon, the search for missing Brightwood resident Susan Lane-Fournier has entered its fourth day as crews continue to scour the Mt. Hood National Forest for clues.

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ross Clemson said Tuesday that drones are being used to aid the search. The effort began November 23 after Lane-Fournier’s white Ford F-250 was found on Salmon River Road near the Green Canyon Way Trail, south of Welches. The 61-year-old was reported missing a day earlier when she didn’t show up for work.

“Our search teams are back in the field today, continuing efforts to find Susan,” Clemson said. “Currently, we have four teams actively searching, with plans to deploy multiple drones to assist in today’s operation.”

Cari Gesch, a friend of Lane-Fournier, who initially reported the truck abandoned, told KOIN that police towed the vehicle from Salmon River Road on the night of November 25.

Gesch, who has known Lane-Fournier since 2016, said she and other friends are frustrated by law enforcement’s labeling of the case as a “missing hiker” incident, the Sandy Post reports.

She noted it seems unlikely for a local familiar with the area to get lost on the Old Salmon River Trail, near where Lane-Fournier’s truck was found.

Earlier this month, Lane-Fournier filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years, CNN reports.

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office did not specify whether any additional evidence has been gathered since the initial searcch started.
