An autopsy has confirmed that a body found this week in Topeka, Kansas, is that of a Nebraska mom who’s been missing for more than a month.
Authorities did not release the cause of 43-year-old Cari Allen’s death but did say the manner was homicide, KLKN reports.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Allen was last seen on November 19 at around 11 p.m. in Douglas County, Nebraska, where she lived. Following her disappearance, the Topeka Police Department in Kansas — where her boyfriend lived — assisted the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office while conducting a search in both states.
Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Wayne Hudson told KMTV on Thursday that “investigative techniques” and not a tip led detectives to private property just south of Topeka, where they found the body. Topeka Police and Shawnee County Sheriff’s deputies were also on hand.
Allen’s boyfriend, 47-year-old Aldrick Scott, lived in Topeka until Allen’s disappearance, when he fled to Central America. He was arrested in Belize on December 6, on a kidnapping warrant, and has been extradited to Nebraska.
