A Utah newspaper published a glowing obituary of a man who murdered his family before killing himself earlier this month.
Michael Haight “made it a point to spend quality time with each and every one of his children,” the obituary in The Spectrum read.
Haight, 42, killed his wife, five children, and mother-in-law on January 4, as CrimeOnline previously reported, just two weeks after Tausha Haight, 40, filed for divorce.
The obituary, which didn’t mention the murders, discussed Haight’s “leadership skills, values of honest hard work and determination” and noted that he had been an Eagle Scout.
“Michael enjoyed making memories with the family,” the article said, describing his marriage and the birth of all the children but not their gruesome deaths.

The children — three girls aged 17, 12, and 7 and two boys aged 7 and 4 — were named in the obituary as Macie Lynn, Briley Ann, Ammon Michael, Sienna Belle, and Gavin Drew. The mother-in-law was identified as Gail Earl, 78.
In another bizarre move, a GoFundMe set up to raise money for funeral and legal expenses and a memorial fund replaced a photo of Haight and the family with an image of Jesus. The GoFundMe also didn’t mention the murders or suicide, but also omitted mention of Michael Haight.
