A Tennessee hairdresser is accused of holding a pair of scissors near the face of a customer after demanding an extra payment of $50, authorities said.
Mychelle Ray, 31, faces charges of aggravated assault and false imprisonment, according to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.
Citing the arrest affidavit, local NBC affiliate WMC reported how the alleged assault escalated on Sept. 13 at Luv My Hair Salon in Memphis.
A woman paid a $50 deposit and $410 through Zelle at the salon, the outlet reported. But before the appointment ended, the hairstylist allegedly demanded $50 more.
When the customer questioned the amount, Ray “became irate and began cursing and yelling,” the network reported, citing the affidavit.
“Don’t move, because I got these scissors next to your face,” the defendant allegedly told the customer at one point and, “B—-, you not going nowhere until you pay me,” WMC reported.
Ray allegedly locked the door and blocked the customer’s path, The Charlotte Observer reported, citing the affidavit.
The customer managed to call the police, and she was ultimately let go. Ray was booked into the Shelby County Jail on Wednesday. She was released after posting $7,500 bail, online jail records show. She’s set to appear in court on Oct. 14.
