Arkansas Teen Found Dead in Mississippi National Forest

A missing teen from Arkansas was found dead Wednesday in a national forest in Mississippi.

City of West Memphis police said that Fredarrious Wilson was last seen on March 5, according to WREG. His mother reported seeing him between 4:30 and 5 p.m. that day when he left to see a movie with a classmate.

The mom said her son wasn’t home when she woke up at 11 p.m. and that she tried unsuccessfully to call him.

Investigators said Wilson’s phone pinged in the Holly Springs National Forest in Yalobusha County, Mississippi — about 90 minutes from West Memphis — and that county’s sheriff’s office searched the remote area for about six hours on Tuesday.

They returned on Wednesday with assistance from other agencies, and a forest service employee found the body about 30 yards off County Road 243 at about 11 a.m., WMC said.

”Sadly, it wasn’t the outcome we wanted,” Yalobusha County Sheriff Jerimaine Gooch said in a statement. “Our focus is on this investigation, making an arrest and providing answers and closure for his family, Our prayers go out to them.”

City of West Memphis police said Wilson’s death was being investigated as a homicide but didn’t provide further details.
