An Arizona man has been indicted in the murder of a teen found dismembered “and burned beyond recognition” in a bonfire pit in Tonto National Forest last year.
Anthony Ruinard Jr., 38, was arrested in July for the murder of 18-year-old Parker League, who had just graduated high school in Nebraska and was visiting friends, as CrimeOnline reported. League arrived in the area on June 9, and his body was found on June 12, the day he had been scheduled to return home.
He was identified using dental records, KTAR reported.
“Experienced homicide prosecutors in my office combed through nearly 4,000 pages of material submitted in this homicide case,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said Friday. “After five months of careful review, we were able to secure this indictment. This is the next step in bringing justice to Parker League and his family.”
Detectives said they identified Ruinard as the suspect in League’s death from multiple locations where the teen’s credit card was used. League was last seen alive in video footage on June 11 leaving a gas station in Chandler with Ruinard in a black Dodge Challenger.
Ruinard has been charged with second degree murder and abandonment or concealment of a body, and his trial is currently set for July.
