A Jan. 6 rioter from Virginia who claimed he was “part of the revolution” and swung a pocketknife in the U.S. Capitol during the insurrection is going to prison.

Jay Matthew Kenyon, 47, was sentenced on Friday to 15 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, a Barack Obama appointee, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced in a press release. Kenyon was convicted in October following a bench trial before Jackson on charges of civil disorder, trespassing, disorderly conduct and picketing in a Capitol building.

Kenyon joined rioters that day outside the House Chamber as the crowd chanted and pushed against the doors, prosecutors said. He went to the third-floor House Appropriations Committee Room, then into the Rotunda. When cops went to clear rioters out of the Rotunda, Kenyon pushed against law enforcement before he was removed from the building by an officer, officials said.
