AMBER Alert Infant Found in SUV May Not Have Been Abducted, Cops Say

A 9-month-old Alabama girl who was reported kidnapped on Monday was likely never abducted — as authorities believe the car she was in was not put in park, leading it to travel down a large embankment where it was found on Tuesday.

AL.com reported that Harlow Freeman was in her father’s SUV, which vanished while parked outside a Walker County home. The following day, Freeman and the car were found 100 yards away in thick kudzu.

Freeman was dehydrated, but Parrish police chief Danny Woodard said a window broken from an unrelated incident provided ventilation that possibly saved her life.

Woodard said it is possible someone took the car, but they also suspect that the unparked car rolled away while Freeman’s father quickly stopped at a friend’s home. Police received multiple reports of the SUV speeding away from the residence, according to Woodard.

An AMBER Alert was issued for Freeman, who was missing 10-12 hours before she was found alive in her car seat.

“This is still an active investigation and I think anything is possible at this time,” Woodard said, according to WIAT.
