Four people have been sentenced for the catfishing murder of a Michigan woman who was found shot to death in an abandoned juvenile detention facility last year.

Steven Douglas Bails was found guilty of first degree murder in March for the death of Kayla Sedoskey, his ex-girlfriend, WDIV reported. He has been sentenced to life without parole.

Narena Bails,, Bails’ wife, and Sierra Bemis pleaded no contenst to second degree murder. Both testified against Steven Bails at his triel. Bails’ wife was sentenced to 13 to 30 years in prison, and Bemis was sentenced to 18 to 30 years in prison.

Alexander Feko pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and accessory afer the fact and also testified against Steven Bails. He was sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison.

Sedoskey’s body was found on March 3, 2023, at the abandoned Boysville Juvenile Detention Center in Frenchtown Township, as CrimeOnline previously reported. Her mouth was taped shut and her body was wrapped in a tarp, WJBK said.

The Bailses and fled Michigan after the body was found and were arrested in North Carolina after a standoff with police in April 2023.

Two other people — Brin Smith and Kaylyn Ramsey — entered into plea deals and are to be sentenced next week, WDIV said. Smith pleaded no contest to murder, agreeing with prosecutors that he lured Sedowskey to the abandoned facility under the guise of spending time alone. Steven Bails, Bemis, and Ramsey were waiting there to kill her.

Under the terms of his deal, Smith will serve a minimum 40 years in prison.

Ramsey also pleaded no contest to second degree murder and will serve a minimum 40 year sentence.
