Neighbors Fear for Missing Texas Mom of 4 After Hearing Loud Argument, Physical Altercation with Husband

A Georgia man was charged with murder after his 4-month-old son reportedly died on Wednesday with injuries consistent with abuse.

According to WRDW, Daveon Wood’s infant son suffered a brain bleed and died on Wednesday. Wood, 21, who was arrested on November 9, allegedly admitted in a phone call to striking the boy “a couple of times.”

Wood was reportedly involved in another undisclosed incident and had fled, leaving his son’s mother’s car unattended. The mother left the infant and her other child with a family friend while retrieving her car, according to WRDW.

Eventually, Wood allegedly returned to the home intoxicated and snatched his infant from the family friend, causing the baby to cry. Wood reportedly forced family members outside while he apparently tried to calm down the baby — before Wood came outside and said his son was not breathing.

The Augusta Press reported that the baby’s mother was not home when the deadly incident unfolded. According to the news outlet, the mother and Wood have an extensive history of domestic violence.

Wood was initially charged with second-degree cruelty to children, but a murder charge was added in light of his son’s death. An autopsy is pending.
