Three Michigan State University students were identified Tuesday as victims of the 43-year-old gunman who opened fire at two campus locations Monday night before killing himself.
Police identified Brian Fraser and Alexandria Verner while family of Arielle Anderson named her as the third fatality, the Detroit Free Press said.
All three were Michigan natives. Verner, 20, was a junior who graduated Clawson High School in 2020 and was studying forensic science.
“Alex was and is incredibly loved by everyone,” Clawson Public School Superintendent Billy Shellenbarger said in a letter to the district’s families. “She was a tremendous student, athlete, leader and exemplified kindness every day of her life!
“If you knew her, you loved her and we will forever remember the lasting impact she has had on all of us.”
Fraser, 20, and Anderson, 19, were both sophomores, Fraser from Grosse Pointe and Anderson from Harper Woods. Police said Fraser graduated from Grosse Pointe South High School — where he had been on the swim and dive team — while Anderson’s family said she was a graduate of Grosse Pointe North.

Fraser was the president of the Michigan Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta, the fraternity said, and was studying business. Friends from school organized a GoFundMe to help his family, saying he “is one of the sweetest and most genuine people out there, he never fails to make you smile.”
Anderson wanted to be a pediatric doctor, her family said. “She’s kind, loving, caring, compassionate, driven,” and “very family oriented,” said April Davis, her maternal grandmother. Anderson was particular close to her aunt — Davis’s daughter — who had special needs, her grandmother said.
Five other students were wounded in the shooting and are all listed in critical condition.
