3 Nursing Home Employees Filmed Abuse of Elderly Patients: Cops

Three Oklahoma nursing home employees have been arrested and after a former employee showed showed facility administrators a video sent via Snapchat of the employees twisting the pubic hair of a female resident with the caption “give me a mohawk.”

Guthrie Police launched an investigation in April and late last month arrested Jade Williams, 21; Aubrey Granata, 21; and McKenzie Bolfa, 20, on elder abuse charges.

“They had excuses for some of their behavior, but it didn’t really match up with the evidence that we had uncovered,” Guthrie Police Chief Don Sweger told KFOR.

“It’s probably one of the saddest things,” he said. “We take service to everybody very responsibly, but especially for those who don’t have a voice for themselves.”

According to court documents viewed by Law&Crime, Bolfa told administrators that she had been cleaning fecal matter from the patient in the video in which she was seen twisting pubic hairs. She said that her laughter was because she and the patient, who was motionless on the bed, were “joking around.”

Investigators found more disturbing videos on the three suspects’ cell phones. An affidavit says that several of the videos show patients going to the bathroom, including closeups of one resident’s genitals. Another video showed Bolfa on a bed next to a patient who had died, holding her mouth open in a mimick of the woman’s facial expression.

“It’s probably one of the saddest things,” said Sweger. “We take service to everybody very responsibly, but especially for those who don’t have a voice for themselves.”

The nursing home, Golden Age Nursing, said in a statement it had fired the three employees, KFOR said.

Bolfa and Granata have posted $50,000 bonds and been released from jail; Williams remains behind bars. All three have court dates on August 8.
