3 Charged With Killing Texas Woman Who Interrupted Their Car Burglary

Three Texas men have been indicted on capital murder charges for the shooting death of a Beaumont woman who interrupted them burglarizing her car last month.

The murder of 39-year-old Ebonie Gilbert was caught on surveillance video on September 26, KFDM reported.

A time stamp on the Ring doorbell video shows the suspects — identified as D’Corey Shillow, 21; Javonta Turner, 21; and Tydrick Davis, 20 — burglarizing Gilbert’s car outside her home, according to affidavits for their arrests. She steps outside to see what’s going on, and a gunman prosecutors say was Shillow shoots her.

Gilbert tried to get back into her house but collapsed and died.

The following day, Gilbert’s mother found the body when she went to her daughter’s house after being unable to reach her.

According to the court documents, Shillow admitted his involvement in Gilbert’s death and named Turner and Davis as accomplices. He said he gave the clothing he was wearing that night to Turner, and investigators found it when they carried out a search warrant at Turner’s home.

Davis reportedly told a witness he was with Turner and Shillow at the murder, according to an affidavit for his arrest.

A judge set Shillow’s bond at $750,000, while a justice of the peace set bonds for Turner and Davis at $800,000. Additionally, Turner must wear a GPS monitor, not leave Jefferson County, and have no contact with his co-defendants.
